I work with people all around the world, which can get a little taxing when having to think about who you may be disturbing with a phone call at some particular time of their day. Apple's Dashboard (or, of course, Yahoo's Konfabulator Widges) is perfect for this. Load up a bunch of clocks with each time zone I need to refer to.
Well, those clocks are good-looking, and, in turn, heavy. One alone bumps up CPU usage. Try 7 or 8! I lived with this for a while, but Dashboard itself just got too pokey. So, time to find a better solution. I chose BFO's "SimpleWorldClock" - there are others, of course. Great looking? Not really - it's function over form. But I can tell you that Dashboard is alive again, and I can load up on the time zones!
Dashboard
Never did like dashboard that much.
Perhaps it was all the times I saw just the standard clock run away with the processor!!
To Each Their Own
Well, you don't have to love it. Personally, I really dig it. Even if just for the weather! But the clocks are super helpful to me. Don't need them all the time, and can pull up the info with a keypress when I do. THe standard clocks were just killing Dashboard, though. I'm happy to have found a replacement. Give Dashboard another shot, this time, though, without the Apple-supplied clock!
