The June issue of MacTech is shipping to subscribers, and can be found on newsstands. Unfortunately, not all newsstands. We're working on that. I find copies at Barnes and Noble's every month. So, if you're looking, try the one closest to you first!
This month is packed with good stuff. Dean Shavit, author of 'The Source Hound' has an interview with Michael Bell, AKA DrunkenBatman, who runs "drunkenblog". Lengthy, and in-depth, it's a great read. Co-incidentally, I just finished up one of DB's covercasts (disc 3, track 9). There are articles on HFS journaling, creating screen savers, creating a Spotlight interface and more.
My "Mac In the Shell" column gets into the nitty-gritty of launchd, Apple's new daemon control system. If you've been wanting to create your own items that run on schedule (like cron), modify a system job, or want to take advantage of the 'WatchPaths', this column will answer all of your questions, and get you running with launchd. Now that 10.4.2 has fixed the errant behavior regarding recurring schedules, there's no better time to dig in.
If you've been holding out, what are you really waiting for? Here's a personal invitation: go subscribe!
